Cops stood down over bully claims
TWO police officers have been stood down amid allegations they used excessive force against a member of the public. The male constables are believed to be from Townsville and were taken off official duty on Friday. The officers are being investigated for using excessive force and failing to treat a member of the public with dignity and respect. Northern Region Acting Assistant Commissioner Paul Taylor said it was still early on in the investigation and the allegations hadn’t been substantiated. “In the interest of the community, the officers were stood down,” he said. “We get complaints against police all the time and if we get a complaint with any validity, we need to take that into account. Further down the track we’ll be able to release more information.”
