Drugs trial for Brynne
MELBOURNE celebrity Brynne Edelsten ( pictured) will face a Christmas Eve trial in Western Australia over allegations she possessed the prohibited drug MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy.
Edelsten’s high- profile lawyer Tom Percy pleaded not guilty to the charge on her behalf in the Perth Magistrates Court yesterday. The court heard five witnesses would be called during the one- day trial, including “character evidence”.
The US- born Edelsten is best known for her marriage to Australian businessman Geoffrey Edelsten, who is 40 years older. They wed in a lavish $ 3 million affair at Melbourne’s Crown Casino in November 2009.
The couple split last year, with Brynne citing her husband’s dalliance with another woman as a reason for the bust- up.
