Fatal NZ avalanche

Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS -

BOBBI Kristina Brown, the only child of late music legend Whitney Houston and R& B singer Bobby Brown, has died six months after going into a coma. She was 22.

She was surrounded by her family at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, Georgia, when she died on Sunday.

“Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away surrounded by her family,” Kristen Foster, a family representative, said.

“She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”

Bobbi Kristina was found face down in the bath at her Georgia home on January 31 in an incident eerily similar to that in which her mother died three years earlier.

Her brain function was said to be “significantly diminished” as a result of the incident and she was placed in a medically induced coma, a state she remained in for months. Nearly two months later she was moved to a rehabilitation centre, where she remained until June 24.

Bobbi Kristina was said to have been left “inconsolable” after the death of her superstar mother three years ago, on February 11, 2012.

Bobbi Kristina Brown was named after her father, R& B singer Bobby Brown. She was born on March 4, 1993 and grew up in the celebrity spotlight. There were the adorable happy snaps of the family at Disneyland, pictures of her on stage with Houston, and later, when she was a teenager, singing My Love Is Your Love on stage with her mother.

But things weren’t always idyllic. Brown and Houston had a rocky relationship. They divorced in 2007 after 15 years of marriage and Houston was given sole custody of 14- year- old Bobbi Kristina.

Trouble surfaced in 2011, when Bobbi Kristina was forced to deny drug use e after the National Enquirer published photos of her snorting a white powder.

Then, in February 2012 when Bobbi Kristina was just 18, her mother was found lifeless in the bath at the Beverly Hilton hotel, leaving her daughter a reported inheritance of $ 115 million.

Bobbi Kristina was rushed to hospital that same month for anxiety treatment and was reportedly found taking drugs after her mother’s funeral.

Her personal life raised eyebrows – there was the “marriage” to Nick Gordon, who had been raised by Houston as Bobbi’s adopted brother and was widely regarded as part of the family.

Following reports of their engagement, Bobbi Kristina wrote on her Facebook page: “Let me clear up something, we aren’t even real brother and sister, nor is he my adoptive brother.

“My mom never adopted him. In fact, mommy was the one who even said that she knew that we were going to start dating.”

Bobbi Kristina had planned to record a tribute album in honour of her mother this year. Instead, she will leave a legacy of a daughter gone too soon. NEW Zealand police have recovered a second body from a field of avalanche debris during a search for two missing Canadian hikers. Search and rescue teams found the second body near where they found the first a day earlier, about 350m below a track the two 23year- olds had intended to hike. Police spokesman Nicholas Barkley said they have yet to formally identify the bodies but authorities have told the families about the latest developments. The men are Louis- Vincent Lessard and Etienne Lemieux.
