THE Cowboys under- 20s have all but guaranteed themselves a spot in the Holden Cup top four after romping to their eighth consecutive victory over Parramatta yesterday evening.

The win pushed the young Cowboys two points ahead of the third- placed Brisbane Broncos with six rounds remaining, and they find themselves 10 points ahead of the fifth- placed New Zealand Warriors.

A Viliame Kikau double in the opening 17 minutes saw the Cowboys match the clock as they raced out to an 18- 0 lead before a long- range Bevan French try put the Eels on the board for the only time of the evening.

It was to be only one- way traffic for the rest of the match as the Cowboys kicked on from a 28- 6 halftime lead to record a 50- 6 win over the 12th- placed Eels.

“I thought we were pretty good and we started a little bit slow,” under- 20s coach Todd Payten said.

“Once we got into the groove of the game, our middle third guys dominated that middle third and I thought we were able to capitalise on the back of that.”

Meanwhile, the Kirwan Bears claimed the Aaron Payne Cup with a win over Ignatius Park College with a 24- 18 victory at 1300SMILES Stadium in the early match yesterday afternoon.
