Gays want no delays
GAY marriage supporters say a national vote would unfairly delay the change. Some Coalition MPs and conservative senators are urging a plebiscite on the issue at the 2016 election. The push comes after Opposition Leader Bill Shorten pledged to legislate for gay marriage within 100 days in office. Polls have shown 6070 per cent of voters support allowing gay marriage – almost double the rate of a decade ago.
