IT’S A WRAP FOR JCU TOGA PARTY

Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS -

IT is a tradition as old as universities themselves – students wrapping their bodies in bedsheets, socialising and chanting “TOGA, TOGA, TOGA’’.

And this week was no different for a fresh batch of students at James Cook University, with the midyear O- Week celebrations ramping up with a Toga Party on Tuesday night.

JCU Student Association president Maclane Schloss said the Toga Party was a great way for new students to interact.

“It is a grand tradition and gets a lot of people talking with people who they might not normally interact with,” Mr Schloss said.

“It is really important to make lots of friends from all different courses.’’

The midyear influx at JCU has seen more than 1000 students take up study, with OWeek celebrations ending with ‘ Bludgers at the The Club’ drinks on Friday.
