Trad underlines case for more ministers

Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS -

IN A further sign that Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk could abandon her smaller- Cabinet pledge, Deputy Premier Jackie Trad has argued that adding a minister would not equal a broken promise.

A day after Ms Palaszczuk refused to rule out a bigger team, Ms Trad ( above) furthered the case.

“The minister commitment … went to the issue of saving taxpayers’ funds,” she said. “If the Premier and the Government can deliver these savings while increasing the Cabinet, I think we have still met our commitment.”

It was revealed last month that senior Labor figures were urging Ms Palaszczuk to appoint more ministers and to find savings elsewhere.

On Tuesday, she revealed she would conduct a review to make sure ministers were performing. She would not rule out adding extra ministers.
