Roller injury at servo worksite

Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS -

A MAN is recovering in Townsville Hospital with a broken leg after being hit by a roller on a worksite in Deeragun yesterday afternoon.

It is understood the 21- year- old man was working on a new Shell Service Station when the incident happened, bringing work to a standstill. District Duty Officer Senior Sergeant Scot Warrick said the investigation into the incident would be run by Workplace Health and Safety.

“It was a workplace incident that initially came in as the man being run over, which is not quite accurate and we believe he suffered a leg injury as a result of being struck by it,” Sen- Sgt Warrick said. “Information suggests it was a broken leg only and that he was not run over and there is no further action for us. Workplace Health and Safety will be investigating, though.”

A Workplace Health and Safety spokesman confirmed they would be investigating the incident, with investigators attending the scene yesterday and today. CHRIS McMAHON
