Cowboys: We’ll lift our game
Cooper said looking after the ball would be key to the Cowboys being a better team tomorrow night.
“We just let ourselves down the other day,’’ he said.
“They weren’t tossing too much at us and our defence really stood up.
“But the way we were getting through our sets it was all over the shop and we were compounding errors.
“We put back- to- back drops together and then we would give away a penalty and let them out of their end. When they should have been running out off their tryline, we were defending our tryline.
“We can’t do that to Canberra. They’re much bigger and they throw the ball around a lot more than Parra do.”
The form of Raiders fiveeighth Blake Austin has caught Cooper’s eye, running off the back of Canberra’s big forward pack.
“They’ve got some massive boys there and their outside backs have got a bit of offload and bit of play in them,” Cooper said.
“Blake Austin has been in fine form and he pops up everywhere. He’s probably one of the best supporters of the ball at the moment and we’ll have to be really on our job to keen an eye on where he is.”
