Protection for Diggers

Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS - RENEE VIELLARIS

SOLDIERS will be given antichemical weapon cloaks in the latest hi- tech war against murderous regimes and warlords trying to kill Australian troops.

The Turnbull Government will today reveal the $ 300 million Defence investment which highlights the shift to spyware and cutting- edge technology for Australian soldiers.

There are heightened concerns for Diggers who face serious illness and death from chemical and biological attacks, especially in the Middle East.

The new investment will also help protect troops from radiological and nuclear threats.

Defence Minister Marise Payne said Australian troops needed to be protected.

“This investment will ensure our personnel are better protected,” she said.

“The new equipment enhances the Australian Defence Force’s ability to detect, identify, monitor and warn others of CBRN ( chemical, biological radiological, nuclear) hazards,” she said.
