THE Western Lions Kings have fin­ished as cham­pi­ons of the an­nual Gor­den Tal­lis Cup af­ter go­ing un­de­feated at the un­der- 10 car­ni­val.

The lo­cal club fin­ished the two- day tour­na­ment with a per­fect seven wins from seven games, capped by a hard­fought 12- 0 win over Western Districts Mackay Gold in yes­ter­day’s grand fi­nal.

Mar­ley Proc­tor, Ace Ste­pens and Diesel Tay­lor all got over for tries in the grand fi­nal, with the tour­na­ment’s name­sake Gor­den Tal­lis on hand to watch the big game and do the tro­phy pre­sen­ta­tions.

In the Reg Matthews Plate fi­nal Cairns team the Red­lynch Ra­zor­backs de­feated Townsville Brothers Pad­dys 8- 4 while Brothers Bull­dogs Mackay Blue took home the Jan­nita Dunn Plate af­ter beat­ing Proser­pine Whit­sun­day 8- 4.

In the other con­so­la­tion fi­nal Mackay Souths Sharks de­feated the Walk­er­ston Wan­der­ers to take home the Wally Tal­lis Cup.
