Portion sizes on increase
PORTION sizes of food laden in fat, sugar and salt have ballooned since 1995.
Slices of cake and pizza have a whopping 66 per cent more kilojoules, shocking researchers and sparking calls for an urgent scaling down of serves to curb the nation’s obesity epidemic.
Research out today by The George Institute for Global Health reveals that between 1995 and 2012 Australians consumed ever- growing portions of unhealthy foods. While pizza and cake were the worst offenders, a typical portion of sausage, cereal bar, processed meat, ice cream and wine also increased.
