Man charged over stabbing
AN Ingham man has been remanded in custody after he allegedly stabbed another man in the back early yesterday morning.
Anthony Catchinda, 53, was charged with one count of grievous bodily harm after he allegedly stabbed a 35- year- old man in the back at a Cartwright St residence in Ingham.
Police were called to the home about 1.30am yesterday.
The victim was taken to Ingham Hospital in a serious condition before being flown to Townsville Hospital with a punctured lung.
Ingham police officer- incharge Acting Senior Sergeant Don Auld described the incident as “alcohol- fuelled violence”.
“I don’t know the exact weapon but it would have to be a knife,” he said.
Both men were known to each other.
Catchinda is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrate Court this morning.
