BOSS SETS TEMPO IN TRAINING

- ANDREWAN BACKHOUSE THIS WEEK’S PROGRAM

IT’S not unusual for a few people in any office to be fitness nuts.

But the Queensland Country Health Fund has managed to convince 100 of its employees and their family and friends to sign up for the Townsville Running Festival.

Tamika Piccinelli from Queensland Country Health Fund said employees from different parts of the company would come together for a good cause.

“Every year we have a diversity of entrants and this year is no different with our chief executive of- ficer Aaron Newman, contact centre staff, branch staff and head office staff represented in our entries,” Ms Piccinelli said.

“This year Aaron wanted to encourage as many staff to participate as possible so we invited our staff to share the experience with a friend.

“So far we have 30 family and friends of staff members registered.”

Ms Piccinelli said the challenge had brought together staff and boosted morale, with many of the entrants beginning their training together.

“Many of our staff are currently participating in boot camps and regular exercise programs to train for the event,” she said.

“Some have even started the Couch to 5k program.

“Our staff are extremely excited to be a part of the event this year.”

The Townsville Running Festival will be held on August 6, with events starting from 5.30am.

A marathon and 10km run are among the events to be held on the day.

The Corporate 5k Challenge takes place at 9.15am.
