Invader, Pariah step out

-

WE’RE not even halfway through winter but potential spring stars are already crawling out of the woodwork with several high- profile horses set to step out at the Randwick trials today.

Last week it was three- time Group 1 winner Le Romain who made his first public appearance of the winter at the Wyong trials and now Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Invader and Blue Diamond runner- up Pariah will trial at Randwick today.

Co- trainer Paul Snowden said both rising three- yearolds will just have an easy hit out today.

“That’s just the next stage of their fitness and they’re only 740m trials,” he said. “Once they jump there is only three furlongs left in the trial so it’s a stage they’re at and they’re ready to go to the trials and have a bit of a blow out so to speak and it’s all about getting their fitness levels up.

“They will have a more serious trial in 10 days or two weeks after this one.”

Snowden said both horses had developed since the autumn.

Pariah and Invader will be joined at the Randwick trials today by Washington Heights, who was Group 3 placed as a two and three- year- old in Australia before leaving for Hong Kong where he won twice from four starts over there.
