Childcare fees lowered ‘ in thanks’

Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS -

A CHILDCARE centre has slashed fees to support the community with the rising costs of raising a family.

Community Kids Heatley Early Education Centre has reduced its fees by up to $ 34.50 a day, with fees down to $ 90 a day for those attending 1- 2 days, $ 80 a day for 3- 4 days and $ 70 a day for five days.

Manager Lee Skinner said the industry tended to increase rates each year but her centre took a “bold step” to make child care more affordable for families.

“We appreciate the costs of raising a family, so we are reducing our fee to do our part and say thank you for the continued support of our local community,” she said.

“We have never done this before and it’s unheard of in the industry, however, it’s our way of giving back and growing the sense of community we have here.

“We really do hope these new fees will help our current families and new families who need child care to be able access our services and make it more affordable.”
