STUDENTS’ SWEET SOUNDS
student choir made beautiful music when they took to the stage in a grand concert performance at Willows State School recently.
The mass choir, involving the cream- of- thecrop Year 5 and 6 choir singers from state schools across Townsville, learnt all the music for their performance during an intensive four- day workshop with Australian Children’s Conductor Anne O’Regan.
Students from Bluewater State School, Currajong State School, Townsville Central State School, Belgian Gardens State School, Hermit Park State School, Annandale State School, Wulguru State School, Weir State School, Cranbrook State School, Railway Estate State School and Townsville West State School participated in the final showcase performance.
Bluewater State School teacher Peta Dew said it was a rare opportunity for local choir students to perform on stage. “The benefit of the Choral Workshop is that only the best 10 choir students in Years 5 and 6 from each state school can attend,” she said.
“This means that the choir is made up of the cream of the crop choir singers from all over Townsville.
“The quality of sound that the students get to hear, and focus and dedication they get to experience from the whole choir, is second to none.”
