Vis­i­tors boost Ar­dent shares

SHARES in Ar­dent Leisure have ral­lied af­ter the Dream­world theme park owner re­ported an im­prove­ment in vis­i­ta­tion num­bers.

Ar­dent, which also owns White­Wa­ter World, said vis­i­tor num­bers were down 30.5 per cent in June com­pared to a year ago. How­ever, this was bet­ter than the 35.8 per cent de­cline re­ported in May.

Shares in Ar­dent closed 3c, or 1.5 per cent, higher at $ 2.07 yes­ter­day. Unau­dited rev­enues de­clined by about 35 per cent to $ 4.4 mil­lion dur­ing June, also a slight im­prove­ment on May.

Vis­i­tor num­bers have been dra­mat­i­cally lower for Ar­dent Leisure since four peo­ple died when a raft flipped on the Thun­der River Rapids ride at Dream­world on the Gold Coast last Oc­to­ber.
