Townsville Bulletin - - PLAY - COLIN VICKERY

Grantley has gone soft. The actor famed for his chilling portrayal of gangland figure Carl Williams in Underbelly is busy being a doting dad and hosting ... wait for it, a dog show.

The 36- year- old, who welcomed son Rocco 11 months ago with wife Alex Ortuso, fronts Pooches at Play.

The Channel 10 series explores everything from canine behavioural issues to training tips, health advice and pet- friendly weekend escapes., with expertise from animal welfare advocate Lara Shannon and vet Dr Melissa Meehan.

“Bondi Vet’s Dr Chris Brown has nothing to be concerned about — he shouldn’t consider me a threat at all,” Grantley jokes.

“I don’t profess to come into this with any knowledge or expertise about dogs.

“I’m merely a dog lover sharing my passion.”

Grantley’s dog George, a three- and- a- half- year- old labrador kelpie cross, is also part of the team.

Fans of the actor last saw him in five seasons of Nine’s House Husbands as Kane Albert, a gay man helping to raise his niece Stella.

With Grantley now facing the perils of real- life parenting, “it has been a whole new world — a new experience that I am absolutely loving”.
