OUTBACK denture manufacturer Adrian McCarthy has had people turn up at his mobile clinic with their battered old dentures held together with wire. He’s seen it all. He calls himself the Denture Adventurer and he travels anywhere and everywhere with his mobile workshop making ‘ falsies’ for clients whose ‘ chompers’ have long since bitten the dust. There is no sand dune, no bog hole or dry gully that will stop the Denture Adventurer reaching bush residents who need a new set of gleaming, white ‘ falsies’. And last week in Winton who should turn up at his clinic but the CrackUp Sisters, Twiggs Ruth and ST Ruth ( pictured). The CrackUps are a comedy act which combines circus routines with just about anything else. They love Winton so much they bought a house there and use the town as a base for their show which takes them all over Australia. They have just done the Big Red Bash at Birdsville and the Bedourie Camel Races. And, no, in case you are wondering, they weren’t getting new sets of “masticators” from the Denture Adventurer. They just thought it would like a good opportunity to do what they do best — have a bit of fun.
