A UNIQUE music experience in the heart of Townsville returns to the city as part of the Australian Festival of Chamber Music.

The free concert in Queens Gardens on July 30 will showcase an array of music, with the 1RAR band and the Barrier Reef Orchestra performing, alongside festival artists.

Australian Festival of Chamber Music executive director Justin Ankus said the 90- minute garden concert was a popular event on the AFCM calendar.

“The Queens Gardens Concert has become a hugely popular event for locals and visitors alike, so we have worked with Townsville City Council to ensure its return again this year,” Mr Ankus said.

“There will be a great range of music including Cheryl Barker and Peter ColemanWright performing arias from the operas Carmen and Tosca, and we will, of course, include the return of the explosive Overture. It will be a delightful afternoon.”

Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said the concert had become a social and arts highlight.
