Fury over horrific domestic violence

Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS - CHRIS McMAHON

A WOMAN has been severely bashed, allegedly at the hands of her partner, in a horrific domestic violence attack.

It will be alleged the distraught victim called police about 7am yesterday after the distressing assault, which started in Heatley and ended in Wulguru.

Early investigations suggest the 28- year- old male accused forced the female into a car, continued to assault her and then drove to Wulguru.

The victim was left with serious facial injuries after the alleged assault, but managed to call police, who rushed to the scene, and found the alleged offender a few streets away before pulling him over.

Inspector Damien Crosby said incidents like this domestic violence assault would not be tolerated and police would charge offenders with serious criminal offences.

“The victim has facial injuries, bruising and swelling to the face, damage to her car and breached a domestic violence order between the pair,” Insp Crosby said.

“Domestic violence is a key priority for us and it reiterates that domestic violence will not be tolerated. It’s a blight on the community and this particular offender has been charged with serious criminal offences.”

The man has been charged with breaching a domestic violence order, assault occasioning bodily harm, wilful damage, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlicensed driving.
