Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS - CHRIS McMAHON

A WOMAN was stabbed in the chest and hand in a horrific domestic violence attack at a Heatley home.

Police will allege a Palm Island man, 23, stabbed the 22year- old female twice following an argument before fleeing the Eckhoff St home about 1.30am yesterday.

It is understood the man was arrested at another home a short distance away and has been charged with domestic violence offences and unlawful wounding.

Plain Clothes Senior Constable David Stanborough said when they arrived at the home they saw a lot of blood.

“At 2.15am we attended an address in Heatley in relation to a female who had received two stab wounds to the body. On arrival we saw a lot of blood in the house and the victim has been transported to the hospital,” Sen Constable Stanborough said.

“The offender was located a short time later at another address in Heatley and he was arrested for unlawful wounding and has been remanded in custody.”

The woman has since been released from hospital and is recovering from her injuries.

The alleged offender will front Townsville Magistrates Court this morning.
