‘ Dudded’ on Debbie funds

Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS -

A NORTH Queensland LNP MP says the region has been “dudded” by a shortfall in disaster recovery funding after Cyclone Debbie.

Whitsunday MP Jason Costigan wrote to Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull demanding more money be allocated.

“I genuinely believe the Whitsundays has been dudded in relation to Category D assistance,” Mr Costigan said.

Category D disaster recovery funding relates to exceptional circumstances where funding gaps have been identified. The State Government has committed $ 110 million but the Federal Government has only committed $ 29 million.

Federal LNP MP for Dawson George Christensen has also criticised the allocation.
