Clueless on power

Townsville Bulletin - - OPINION -

I READ with interest Sam Cox’s letter ( TB, 21/ 7) and it occurred to me: he is still as clueless as he was three years ago.

Maybe it is sour grapes that we punted him from our party, but Mr Cox fails to recognise that only the LNP has a plan to deliver cheaper power and water security for North Queensland.

Mr Cox obviously had his head in the sand, or in other places, and missed LNP Leader Tim Nicholls’ announcement on June 21 when he pledged $ 225 million towards delivering water security for Townsville.

He must also have missed the countless times Tim Nicholls has pledged to ensure a hitech low emissions coal- fired power station becomes a reality for North Queensland.

In fact, Tim Nicholls has pledged to fast- track plans for a hi- tech low emissions coalfired power station in North Queensland within 100 days of being elected to government.

Maybe Mr Cox missed both those commitments because he is not interested in representing North Queenslanders and is all about self- interest.

There was a reason North Queenslanders punted him at the last election.

North Queensland households, manufacturers and businesses shouldn’t miss out on affordable and reliable electricity because Annastacia Palaszczuk is trying to win inner- city Green preferences.

Only the LNP has a plan to Build a Better Queensland – only the LNP can be trusted to ensure a North Queensland hi- tech low emissions coalfired power station becomes a reality.

North Queenslanders want action – they certainly don’t need the likes of Mr Cox, or the party he represents. Both can’t deliver. DALE LAST, LNP Burdekin MP.
