FROCKS and glam­our will take over the track to­day as Townsville Turf Club opens its gates for Ladies Day.

The event will kick off at 11am with seven lo­cal races fea­tured.

Townsville Turf Club CEO Cas­san­dra Caz­zulino said it would be a fun af­ter­noon, with 2500 ex­pected through the gates.

“It’s al­ways a very pop­u­lar day and not just for the ladies,” she said. “We get so many guys track­side as well.” In­cluded in gen­eral ad­mis­sion is ac­cess to the Miss Ma­cie Cham­pagne Gar­den and the Espresso Mar­tini Bar. Fash­ions on the Field are sure to be a hit with plenty of par­tic­i­pants parad­ing their frocks and fin­ery.

“It doesn’t mat­ter if you are gen­eral ad­mis­sion or in a mar­quee, we have a great day planned for ev­ery­one,” Ms Caz­zulino said.

The horses won’t be the only en­ter­tain­ment, with well- known band Dr Jack tak­ing the stage in the af­ter­noon to keep pun­ters danc­ing. Tick­ets at the gate are $ 20 for adults, $ 10 for con­ces­sions and kids free.

Buses will op­er­ate to the track from through­out Townsville. Up- to- date sched­ules are on the Townsville Turf Club’s web­site and Face­book page.
