RADIO personality Steve Price has traded tropical shirts for thermal underwear and puffy jackets, snapping incredible pictures during his trip to the North Pole.
Pricey ( pictured above) told the Townsville Bulletin of close encounters with polar bears and walruses in the icy Arctic.
“No such thing as bad weather, it’s wrong clothing,” he said.
“Thermals, and neck warmers, the best gloves I could get, and scary as I haven’t worn socks and shoes for ages.
“We would go out in Zodiacs twice a day for many hours in the wilderness, the guides would carry rifles as we were in bear territory.
“I always take a great torch with me when I travel, really silly in this trip, as I have not seen night for two weeks.”
After a few days in Copenhagen, Pricey will soon be on his way back to Townsville.
“It’s not easy to get here, but so worth it,” he said.
“When you stand next to 73 walruses in a huge haul out, you realise how small we are yet how important it is to protect these extraordinary creatures.
“They knew we were there, the eyes told the story.” >> Flick to page 16 to check out some more of his photographs.
