Nom­i­nate a vol­un­teer for city coun­cil 2017 awards

TOWNSVILLE res­i­dents are be­ing urged to nom­i­nate a se­nior cit­i­zen who has con­trib­uted to the well­be­ing of the com­mu­nity.

Nom­i­na­tions are now open for the 2017 Townsville City Coun­cil se­niors awards to peo­ple aged over 60, who have given their time on a vol­un­tary ba­sis for the good of the com­mu­nity.

Mayor Jenny Hill said se­niors made in­valu­able con­tri­bu­tions to our com­mu­nity, fam­i­lies and work­places ev­ery day.

“This is a great op­por­tu­nity to nom­i­nate a se­nior you feel has con­trib­uted to mak­ing Townsville great,” Cr Hill said.

“Each year we are pleased to recog­nise the city’s se­niors for the count­less hours they vol­un­teer across a range of or­gan­i­sa­tions in Townsville.”

Nom­i­na­tions can be made on­line, by mail or in per­son at Coun­cil’s Com­mu­nity En­gage­ment of­fice Level 1, North­town.

Nom­i­na­tions must be re­ceived by 5pm, Fri­day, Au­gust 4.

Win­ners will be an­nounced dur­ing the Se­niors Week Lun­cheon at Townsville Sta­dium on Au­gust 24.
