TA reaches out to Tomic
TENNIS Australia has offered assistance to the “trapped’’ Bernard Tomic, but the ball is entirely in Tomic’s court if he wants to return to the Davis Cup fold, its director of performance Wally Masur says.
Tomic said in a television interview on Sunday that he feels “trapped’’ and “confused’’ by tennis, which he plays only for money.
Masur said TA was not considering severing ties with Tomic and he would be considered for the semifinal if he made himself available.
“He’s just got to start to enjoy the sport again and commit to it again,’’ Masur said. “It’s kind of more where he’s at. “We all know about his talent, but self discipline is a talent too.”
