Detective tells of ‘ I love you’ message
MURDER accused Dane Pilcher sent a text message to his ex- partner Corinne Henderson saying “I love you” and “I want your babies” on the night she died, a court has heard.
Detective Senior Constable Tania Ramsay told the Supreme Court in Townsville yesterday she had retrieved text messages from people relevant to the investigation.
Pilcher has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Ms Henderson in her Idalia apartment on September 26, 2015.
The text messages were tendered as evidence, and Crown prosecutor Michael Cowen QC directed the jury to particular messages. He said there were messages between Pilcher and his friend Karyn Gillham about Ms Henderson seeing someone.
“Message sent to Dane Pilcher: ‘ Jesus, what’s your thoughts?’ And a response, on September 26 at 10.19: ‘ Kill them both’,” Mr Cowen said.
Sen- Constable Ramsay said she had obtained text messages between Pilcher and Ms Henderson’s phones from a service provider, but was not able to recover all of them.
Mr Cowen read messages allegedly sent between the pair on September 26, 2015.
“A message that reads ‘ Whatever Pilcher. I have had plenty of pictures with people. Think what you like. I am so over your bulls-- t and thinking you can talk to me like s-- t’,” he said.
“At 22.07: ‘ I’m not taking to you like shit. I love you. Why would you have a photo like that with him. Please explain. I love you, I need you, I want your babies’.”
Mr Cowen read another message sent from Pilcher’s phone to Ms Henderson at 9.55pm.
“Wow, you and Dwayne at the races hey? You lied to me. Our love didn’t mean anything to you, I’m hurt beyond belief, but obviously that doesn’t mean a thing to you,” he said.
