NORTH Queens­land Cow­boys winger Kyle Feldt thrilled some of his young fans when he called into his adopt- a- school this week.

Good Shep­herd Catholic School stu­dents heard Feldt read to them in the school li­brary be­fore kick­ing the foot­ball around the oval.

Stu­dent Marychelle Sakaria, 11, said it had been a treat to have a high- pro­file Cow­boys player stop in and have fun with them.

“When Kyle read the book to us he made it fun to lis­ten to him read and he was very en­ter­tain­ing,” she said.

“He told us when he was young he would al­ways com­pete with his sis­ter to see who was bet­ter at read­ing and writ­ing and they would have com­pe­ti­tions about it.” Year 6 teacher Charley Favalli said it had been an en­gag­ing visit.

“The stu­dents ap­pre­ci­ated his hon­esty about be­ing once a strug­gling reader, ” Mrs Favalli said.

“He also opened up about his love for cook­books and ex­plained how his life is not al­ways just about foot­ball and the im­por­tance also of a healthy life­style.”
