Imanui eyes Canterbury

Townsville Bulletin - - RACING -

LEADING trainer Ron Quinton is set to reap the reward for his decision to bypass the Get Out Stakes at Randwick last Saturday in favour of a far easier assignment at Canterbury today on Imanui.

The son of Al Maher will be lining up in the ATC TAB. com. au Handicap at Benchmark 72 level.

“If Imanui didn’t win last Saturday but he ran a place his rating would have gone up quite significantly so I thought if we stick to more our own rating type race then it might be a better option,’’ Quinton said.

Imanui has raced 10 times but today will be his first visit to the Canterbury circuit.

“Canterbury is not a big track and Imanui is a big horse but I’ve ridden and trained plenty of big horses that have handled Canterbury easily so it shouldn’t be a factor,” Quinton said.
