GENERATIONS of Australian chil­dren have grown up with the sto­ries of au­thor Mem Fox.

And Ella Ber­ry­man, 4, ( pic­tured) is one keen reader dis­cov­er­ing the magic of the books for her­self.

Today’s ad­di­tion to the Townsville Bul­letin and The Sun­day Mail’s Great Australian Storybook Collection is Time For Bed, writ­ten by Fox and il­lus­trated by Jane Dyer.

Ella’s mum, Sarah Ber­ry­man, said her daugh­terughter loved hav­ing books ooks read to her.

“Her favourite is ac­tu­ally Where Is s The Green Sheep? which is by Mem m Fox,” she said. “She also loves any­thing with the Dis­ney princesses and there’s an­other book called Room on the Broom.”

Ms Ber­ry­man said she be­lieved en­cour­ag­ing chil­dren to read helped with their learn­ing skills and that her fam­ily al­ways made it a pri­or­ity. “We’ve read to her prob­a­bly from about six months of age,” she said. “She also comes home from kindy talk­ing about new sto­ries.

“When­ever I’m pick­ing her up, there’s al­ways some­one read­ing a story.”

The 15 books in The Great Australian Storybook Collection are avail­able to read­ers of the Townsville Bul­letin and The Sun­day Mail for just $ 2.30 each with a to­ken from each day’s news­pa­per.
