Ruffels shows he has the grit
A GUTSY fightback from a Canadian Open final round collapse has given Australian teenager Ryan Ruffels belief.
Ruffels began yesterday’s last round just three shots off the pace, but he plummeted down the leaderboard with five bogeys and two double- bogeys in his first 14 holes. But he rallied with an eagle and two birdies in his closing three holes to salvage a tie for 32nd place.
“I know there’s ticker and there’s fight in me. I’m very disappointed, but I’ll learn a lot from it,” Ruffels said.
“I’m 19 years old, playing on the PGA Tour. I know the next time I get myself into a position like that I’ll be a lot better off for it. I look forward to it.”
