Firms land stadium jobs

Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS -

TWO local businesses have been contracted to install temporary fencing and demolish on- site sheds and structures to make way for Townsville’s new CBD stadium.

TFH Hire Services will build the temporary fencing while Markwell Demolitions will take down buildings.

State Development Minister Anthony Lynham said the project was on schedule ahead of the official sod- turning ceremony on August 18.

“Locals will see that activities on site are well under way with site compaction testing, temporary settlement trials to determine how the ground reacts to imposed loads, preparations for demolition of the sheds and structures on the site, and the distinctive site fencing,” Mr Lynham said. “The schematic design stage is nearing completion and the process to develop the detailed design is expected to be ongoing until the end of the year.”

Mr Lynham said four more stadium work packages were “either out to tender or closed and under review”.
