PM faces new gay vows calls
MALCOLM Turnbull faces calls from within the Liberal Party to take a second stab at securing Parliament’s approval for a national vote on same- sex marriage. There is also pressure for a party room meeting next Tuesday to discuss a private member’s Bill being proposed by a small group of Liberal backbenchers. Labor sided with the Greens, the Nick Xenophon Team and crossbencher Derryn Hinch to defeat the initial plebiscite Bill, which would have delivered a national vote on changing marriage laws in February. The Prime Minister has told reporters in Perth the Government’s position is clear.
