HOME- GROWN musical heroes King Social are about to start a national tour to showcase their blend of hip- hop, soul and new age everything.

Beginning in Airlie Beach this weekend, King Social’s In Colour tour has 15 scheduled performances due to finish up in Townsville for King’s Christmas on December 8.

King Social hip- hop artist Stevie Mitchell said it would be the group’s fifth King’s Christmas and the per- formance had always been one their bigger gigs.

“The Townsville community come out in numbers for it and it just seems fitting to finish off our tour with our homecoming,” he said.

The band’s new single Lemonade has now been released and will be part of this year’s tour, which Mitchell said would showcase a newer sound.

“We have remodelled a couple of our old songs and got our instruments redone so there is going to be a fuller sound,” he said. “We feel like our re- of cording process went really smoothly and the album itself sounds amazing and we want to imitate that on stage.”

The tour will cover Queensland, NSW, Victoria and the NT, with more shows to be announced soon.

“I’m not overly concerned about popularity but I do appreciate when other people approach me to tell me they appreciate our music and feel there’s a connection,” Mitchell said.

In Colour launches on Friday, with the new album due to be released on September 3.
