Hughes could face old mates

Townsville Bulletin - - SPORT - TRENT SLATTER

JAHROME Hughes remains a chance to face his former club in Townsville tomorrow night with Storm coach Craig Bellamy admitting he’s still undecided as to who will replace Cameron Munster at fiveeighth against the Cowboys.

H u g h e s ( right) was named in the halves against Manly last weekend, but he lined up fullback in place of the injured Billy Slater ( co n c u s s i o n ) , with Munster reverting to his familiar five- eighth role.

Slater is back this weekend which was expected to push Hughes out of the squad, but Munster has since been ruled out with an ankle injury which has opened the door for the one- time Cowboy.

Exciting youngster Ryley Jacks was named at five- eighth, but Hughes has been in undeniable form this season with three tries and seven linebreaks in just three matches for the Storm.

Bellamy said he was leaning towards playing Jacks in the halves, but he would wait until after today’s captain’s run in Townsville before making his final decision.

“We haven’t actually decided on it yet. We’ve only had the one quick training session so we’ll try both of them there,” Bellamy said.

“Jahrome hasn’t played much there to be quite honest whereas Riley has. We’ll have a look at it ( today) at training and decide from there.”
