Crash woman fights for life
TWO pedestrians were hit by cars in two separate incidents last night.
A woman was fighting for her life in Townsville Hospital after being hit by a car in Mount Louisa.
The Bulletin understands the woman, 34, was walking with a man when she was struck about 7pm near the roundabout at the intersection of Bayswater Rd and Crestbrook Drive.
Emergency services including a critical care paramedic raced to the scene and found the woman unconscious with a suspected broken leg.
She was stabilised before being rushed to Townsville Hospital in a critical condition, where she remained last night.
Forensic crash police were called to the scene.
A number of witnesses were also helping investigators.
The intersection was blocked for several hours.
Meanwhile a girl, believed to be 13, was also rushed to Townsville Hospital with minor injuries after she was hit by a car outside Stockland Townsville Shopping Centre at Aitkenvale about 9pm.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the girl was “up and walking” but had been taken to hospital as a precaution.
