Crash woman fights for life

TWO pedes­tri­ans were hit by cars in two sep­a­rate in­ci­dents last night.

A woman was fight­ing for her life in Townsville Hos­pi­tal af­ter be­ing hit by a car in Mount Louisa.

The Bul­letin un­der­stands the woman, 34, was walk­ing with a man when she was struck about 7pm near the round­about at the in­ter­sec­tion of Bayswa­ter Rd and Crest­brook Drive.

Emer­gency ser­vices in­clud­ing a crit­i­cal care para­medic raced to the scene and found the woman un­con­scious with a sus­pected bro­ken leg.

She was sta­bilised be­fore be­ing rushed to Townsville Hos­pi­tal in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion, where she re­mained last night.

Foren­sic crash po­lice were called to the scene.

A num­ber of wit­nesses were also help­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tors.

The in­ter­sec­tion was blocked for sev­eral hours.

Mean­while a girl, be­lieved to be 13, was also rushed to Townsville Hos­pi­tal with mi­nor in­juries af­ter she was hit by a car out­side Stock­land Townsville Shop­ping Cen­tre at Aitken­vale about 9pm.

A Queens­land Am­bu­lance Ser­vice spokes­woman said the girl was “up and walk­ing” but had been taken to hos­pi­tal as a pre­cau­tion.
