Bank battle over big fight bill

Townsville Bulletin - - OPINION -

I HAVE banked with the Queensland Country Credit Union ( QCCU) since approximately 1973. I have paid all my bills via money I have put in my Bill Paying account with same. I have never not paid a bill.

However recently the performance and inflexibility of the QCCU sunk to the lowest levels of incompetence.

One of my bills monthly is my Foxtel bill. It normally amounts to roughly $ 93. My latest bill is $ 151.79. The increase is directly due to the fact that I put the Manny Pacquiao versus Jeff Horn World Welterweight boxing fight in Brisbane on live via Foxtel.

I have placed $ 1452 in my QCCU Foxtel account to be used whenever there is a Foxtel bill and QCCU would be making interest on that money.

I replied to the QCCU’s representative by phone, which cost me a minimum of $ 20, who told me that they could only pay $ 150.16. They wished to pay no more leaving me owing $ 1.63.

Their system has no flexibility.

A further phone call resulted in their suggested way of paying the extra $ 1.63. The money was withdrawn from my other account as all my money put aside for Foxtel bills could not be used.

I respect the fact that the QCCU Bill Paying team has to operate under this hopeless system however may the instigator be held to account.
