Essery in form with three win­ners

TRAINER Rhonda Essery scored with three win­ners on Tues­day night dur­ing a bumper 11- race meet at the Townsville show­grounds.

Her first win was in race 3 with Ruby’s Magic scor­ing by 3.5 lengths in 22.18 and she fol­lowed that up in race 4 with Watch out Re­nald scor­ing by half a length in 22.04.

Watch out Re­nald is a for­mer Bris­bane grey­hound and has only had four starts since ar­riv­ing in the Essery ken­nel for a third and a win.

Essery’s third win­ner came in race 10 with Go Gwan run­ning a great race in front to score by 5.25 lengths in 21.80.

In other ac­tion on the night Bundy Cut­ter won race 7 by 2.25 lengths in the BON 21.77 for trainer Michael Hick­mott.

Uni­ver­sal One for Kerry Grif­fin also had suc­cess, win­ning race six by 3.5 lengths in 21.78 a new per­sonal best.

These pair are in great form at the mo­ment and it will be in­ter­est­ing to see how they fare against each other in a race.

The Townsville Cup Car­ni­val starts in a cou­ple weeks be­gin­ning with the maiden se­ries heats over 380m and the heats of the 4/ 5th grade over 380m on Au­gust 22 while the Townsville Cup Heats over 498m and the Sprint Heats over 380m are on Au­gust 29.

Ayr trainer Heath Ar­dle was back in the win­ner’s cir­cle, win­ning race one with young­ster Poppy Chooky in 22.25, and the ken­nel­mate Mr Merve ran third in the same race.

Jes­sica Parry was an­other trainer who also had a win when Sugar Hit Ai­vah won race 2 in 22.25.
