Essery in form with three winners
TRAINER Rhonda Essery scored with three winners on Tuesday night during a bumper 11- race meet at the Townsville showgrounds.
Her first win was in race 3 with Ruby’s Magic scoring by 3.5 lengths in 22.18 and she followed that up in race 4 with Watch out Renald scoring by half a length in 22.04.
Watch out Renald is a former Brisbane greyhound and has only had four starts since arriving in the Essery kennel for a third and a win.
Essery’s third winner came in race 10 with Go Gwan running a great race in front to score by 5.25 lengths in 21.80.
In other action on the night Bundy Cutter won race 7 by 2.25 lengths in the BON 21.77 for trainer Michael Hickmott.
Universal One for Kerry Griffin also had success, winning race six by 3.5 lengths in 21.78 a new personal best.
These pair are in great form at the moment and it will be interesting to see how they fare against each other in a race.
The Townsville Cup Carnival starts in a couple weeks beginning with the maiden series heats over 380m and the heats of the 4/ 5th grade over 380m on August 22 while the Townsville Cup Heats over 498m and the Sprint Heats over 380m are on August 29.
Ayr trainer Heath Ardle was back in the winner’s circle, winning race one with youngster Poppy Chooky in 22.25, and the kennelmate Mr Merve ran third in the same race.
Jessica Parry was another trainer who also had a win when Sugar Hit Aivah won race 2 in 22.25.
