Ig­natius Park claim Aaron Payne Cup

IG­NATIUS Park Col­lege have been crowned Aaron Payne Cup cham­pi­ons af­ter dom­i­nat­ing the se­cond half of the fi­nal against Rock­hamp­ton’s The Cathe­dral Col­lege at 1300SMILES Sta­dium yes­ter­day af­ter­noon.

The hosts led 12- 10 at half­time but kicked away af­ter the break to se­cure a 30- 14 win, and book their place in the Queens­land fi­nal of the GIO School­boys Cup.

Ig­natius Park cen­tre Ty Ev- erett scored a long range try early in the se­cond half to give his side an 18- 10 lead, but the vis­i­tors got back into the match when their half­back Ben Farr scored a solo try.

How­ever Ig­natius Park sealed the deal by scor­ing the fi­nal two tries of the match.

Ig­natius Park will re­turn to train­ing this week be­fore fly­ing out to Bris­bane on Au­gust 14 as the top ranked Queens­land side head­ing in to the state semi- fi­nals.
