Garbin fires Flames past Rip City on Sunny Coast

A MON­STER dou­ble- dou­ble from cen­tre Darcee Garbin last night en­sured the Townsville Flames started their QBL triple header in win­ning fash­ion.

The Flames and Townsville Fire star ex­ploded for 34 points on 15/ 24 shoot­ing and added a whop­ping 17 re­bounds in her side’s im­pres­sive 89- 75 road win over USC Rip City.

Fel­low Townsville WNBL star Mia Mur­ray was also ex­cel­lent for the Flames, as she man­aged 23 points and 11 re­bounds in the dom­i­nant win.

USC were led by strong games from Leah Scott ( 20 points, seven re­bounds) and Brooke Le Mar ( 19pts, 4rbs) but it wasn’t enough to stop a ram­pant Flames side.

The vis­i­tors were dom­i­nant in the open­ing three quar­ters and led by 28 points be­fore USC won some re­spect back by claim­ing the last quar­ter 25- 11.

The Townsville Heat were also in ac­tion against Rip City last night, with scores unavail­able at time of print.
