Garbin fires Flames past Rip City on Sunny Coast
A MONSTER double- double from centre Darcee Garbin last night ensured the Townsville Flames started their QBL triple header in winning fashion.
The Flames and Townsville Fire star exploded for 34 points on 15/ 24 shooting and added a whopping 17 rebounds in her side’s impressive 89- 75 road win over USC Rip City.
Fellow Townsville WNBL star Mia Murray was also excellent for the Flames, as she managed 23 points and 11 rebounds in the dominant win.
USC were led by strong games from Leah Scott ( 20 points, seven rebounds) and Brooke Le Mar ( 19pts, 4rbs) but it wasn’t enough to stop a rampant Flames side.
The visitors were dominant in the opening three quarters and led by 28 points before USC won some respect back by claiming the last quarter 25- 11.
The Townsville Heat were also in action against Rip City last night, with scores unavailable at time of print.
