Electricity forum is users’ chance

Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS -

STATE Opposition energy spokesman Michael Hart has urged locals to attend tonight’s Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s electricity inquiry in Townsville.

The forum is part of an inquiry into electricity pricing, which is expected to investigate allegations that state- owned generators have been gaming the market to boost profits.

Mr Hart said anyone who felt that energy prices were out of control should go to the meeting and discuss their issues.

“Rod Simms who’s the chair has already said high prices were being caused by renewable energy,” he said.

“The people in the Townsville region should be wary of what the government is doing and they need to talk to the ACCC.”

The forum will be held at Rydges on Palmer St from 5pm- 7pm.
