Teachers dish out a galling lesson

Townsville Bulletin - - SPORT - TRENT SLATTER

TEACHERS West’s TDRU premiership defence kept rolling on when they took down North Ward with an impressive 48- 0 shutout at Warrina Park on Saturday.

Fly- half Josh Fletcher scored a hat- trick as Teachers laid on eight tries in a clinical attacking display just three weeks out from the finals.

Meanwhile, Brothers are keeping the pressure on Teachers at the top of the ladder after taking down last year’s grand finalists Burdekin 38- 10 in Ayr.

Brothers were too slick in the five- tries- to- two triumph as they nailed every conversion along with a penalty goal for good measure to stay within one win of the firstplaced Bulldogs.

Goal- kicking was also critical for Charters Towers as they claimed a hard- fought 26- 22 victory over Ross River at Bindal Sports Ground.

The Bulls and Redskins scored four tries apiece, but it was Charters Towers fly- half, Sam Knuth, who proved the difference in the end.

He kicked three- from- four to get his side home for their third win of the season.
