Kelsey will chase dream in cam­p­draft

KELSEY Ver­ho­even was born to ride horses.

The 14- year-y old from Ju­lia Creek k can­not re­mem­ber a time when horses were not part of her life. She be­gan rid­ing from the ten­der age of just 12 months.

Such is Kelsey’s pas­sion that she is al­ready mak­ing her name in the com­pet­i­tive world of cam­p­draft­ing, hav­ing won a ti­tle in the ju­ve­nile sec­tion in May.

“I love rid­ing and myy favourite event is cam­p­draft­ing g,” she said.

Jug­gling her school­work with her pas­sion for horses, Kelsey com­petes at up to seven events through­out the north­west of Queens­land each sea­son, in­clud­ing Be­dourie, Rich­mond and Da­jarra, and she is itch­ing to get to the Sedan Dip cam­p­draft, rac­ing and rodeo event, 100km north of Ju­lia Creek, from Au­gust 18- 20. “I ride once a week just get­ting my horses ready for the cam­p­draft,” Kelsey said.
