Woman hurt in alleged knife attack
A MAN allegedly slashed his sister with a large knife after a drunken fight in a West End home yesterday.
Emergency services rushed to the Francis St home about 5pm after reports the woman was bleeding profusely from her arm and a man was still armed with a knife.
The man, 33, was quickly taken into custody and his injured sister, 36, taken by ambulance to Townsville Hospital for a serious injury to her arm.
Police said the man slashed his sister after she hit him over the head with a glass bottle.
District Duty Officer Senior Sergeant Darren Randall said the pair had been drinking befo fore the incident.
“We will allege they have ha had an argument and she has hi hit him over the head with a bo bottle, leaving him with a big lu lump on the top of his head, w which is split,” he said.
“It will be alleged he has th then retaliated by slicing her arm with a knife, which has skinned the arm, rather than c cutting in deep.”
The Townsville Criminal I Investigation Bureau investigation into the incident is continuing. No charges had been laid as of late last night.
