Woman hurt in al­leged knife at­tack

A MAN al­legedly slashed his sis­ter with a large knife af­ter a drunken fight in a West End home yes­ter­day.

Emer­gency ser­vices rushed to the Fran­cis St home about 5pm af­ter re­ports the woman was bleed­ing pro­fusely from her arm and a man was still armed with a knife.

The man, 33, was quickly taken into cus­tody and his in­jured sis­ter, 36, taken by am­bu­lance to Townsville Hos­pi­tal for a se­ri­ous in­jury to her arm.

Po­lice said the man slashed his sis­ter af­ter she hit him over the head with a glass bot­tle.

Dis­trict Duty Of­fi­cer Se­nior Sergeant Dar­ren Ran­dall said the pair had been drink­ing befo fore the in­ci­dent.

“We will al­lege they have ha had an ar­gu­ment and she has hi hit him over the head with a bo bot­tle, leav­ing him with a big lu lump on the top of his head, w which is split,” he said.

“It will be al­leged he has th then re­tal­i­ated by slic­ing her arm with a knife, which has skinned the arm, rather than c cut­ting in deep.”

The Townsville Crim­i­nal I In­ves­ti­ga­tion Bureau in­ves­ti­ga­tion into the in­ci­dent is con­tin­u­ing. No charges had been laid as of late last night.
