Townsville Bulletin - - SPORT -

DEAN Solomon’s stint as caretaker coach has suffered an immediate blow, with Suns skipper Tom Lynch’s season over because of a knee injury.

Lynch injured his PCL playing against Fremantle at Subiaco Oval last Saturday.

Suns football manager Marcus Ashcroft said tests had confirmed the worst for the reigning club champion.

“Usual circumstances would see Tom miss about a month of footy with the injury, but with just three matches remaining Tom won’t return,” he said.

Lynch has looked to be hampered by injury all year. The Suns had previously revealed a back injury was restricting the 2017 All Australian.

Despite being below his best he has still booted 44 goals for the season.

Lynch’s knee was heavily strapped yesterday when he arrived at the club with the rest of the playing group to be told of coach Rodney Eade’s sacking.
