Cox slams ‘ two- faced’ LNP stance

Townsville Bulletin - - NEWS - DOMANII CAMERON

THE Burdekin’s One Nation candidate Sam Cox has slammed the Liberal National Party for supporting the State Government’s budget, claiming the Opposition was saying one thing but acting on another.

The LNP officially supported the 2017- 18 Budget on Tuesday night which included projects such as the $ 5.4 billion Cross River Rail project.

Burdekin MP Dale Last has said previously the LNP does not support the controversial tunnel.

Mr Cox said Mr Last could not have it both ways.

“He either supports money for a $ 5 billion tunnel in Brisbane and he supports Labor’s 50 per cent renewable energy target or he supports water security and a coal- fired power station in North Queensland,” he said.

Mr Last said Mr Cox’s comments highlight the “fundamental poor understanding” of the Budget process.

“If the Budget would have been blocked then all the projects would have ceased from today,” he said. “That would have been irresponsible.

“What that vote was last night ( Tuesday) was to guarantee supply in terms of services that the Government provides to keep this state functioning.”
