A FIT Townsville miner who can “eat like a horse” will set the bar today for an eating challenge that has set the town abuzz.

Regan Anderson, owner of the Shamrock Hotel in Townsville, is setting a mighty challenge for his customers; eat three parmigianas weighing 2.5kg and another kilogram of chips and salad in under 20 minutes. Anyone who can do that will eat for free.

Another $ 500 will be awarded to anyone who can beat the time of Mr Anderson’s friend Joe Hodges.

He once ate a 3.5kg steak in 10 minutes flat and will pit his considerable eating prowess against the parmigiana challenge today to set the benchmark time.

Any punters who can beat Mr Hodges’ time will get the cash.

Mr Anderson plans to offer the challenge, or something similar, every Wednesday. It will be on the menu for the first time next week. The parmigiana challenge will cost $ 35 to attempt.

EAT UP: Shamrock Hotel’s Courtenay Millar with the 3kg Parmi Challenge plate which involves eating 2.5kg worth of parmigiana and 1kg of chips and salad in 20 minutes.
